Born and raised in Vancouver, Washington, in 1998 Jessica was married to her husband Jim. Jessica graduated from Concordia University in 2000 with a teaching degree. The following year her and her husband headed East to the small, beautiful resort community of Bend, Oregon Visit Bend. She taught elementary education at Cecil Sly and Crooked River elementary from 2001 to 2004.
In 2002 she began to work in the leather industry building horse tack. The "Bling" era hadn't happened yet and while working in her mothers shop one day Jessica grabbed a concho and some crystals and asked the question: Why can't we combine the two and create a "Crystal Concho". Fast forward to present day and we now have one of the most influential inventions in the fashion industry today.
She has been very inspirational in the horse tack industry, from edgy chic purse designs, to fashionable horse attire worn by people from Texas to Italy and everywhere in between. Jessica has never let fashion trends stand in her way when it comes to new styles or breaking out from the norm. She is a trail blazer and the backbone of Heritage Brand's design team.
Unlike other designers in the horse tack industry, Jessica knows what it means for tack to fit correctly and how it should be constructed to get the optimum performance. She has also been successful in the arena, throughout the years as a member of the WPRA and other associations, placing at rodeos throughout her Barrel Racing career. This experience in the arena has given her the ability to test and design products that have helped to promote the sport in a positive way.
Jim was born and raised in the Vancouver, Washington area. He graduated from Prairie High School in Brush Prairie, Washington in 1996 and began a career in the building industry at age 18. He spent most of his early years working for his father as a supervisor.
Rachelle is a native Oregon girl, coming to Bend from the small coast town of Tillamook. She’s got a colorful resume including her first job of milking cows, working at her parent’s retail garden center growing up,
owning her own coffee business, a degree in Nutritional Therapy, and it will come as no surprise she’s also done quite a bit of modeling.
She’s mom to her sport-loving 10 year old son, an avid barrel racer, and if you’re in the market for a barrel prospect, Rachelle raises some of the nicest colts in the industry with her breeding business Three Cans Barrel Horses.
Rachelle manages the production here at HB, orchestrating the production team to ensure supplies are ordered, quality is high and orders get out the door on time. And being that she was the 8th grade Chess Champion, she’s no stranger to strategizing, which sure comes in handy around here!
Yes, in a shop of 8, we somehow manage to have 2 people named Jim and 2 people named Jessica! And while this Jessica doesn’t have a nickname like Big Jim, she’s been an integral part here at HB since 2009. Jess is in charge of all the administrative duties, which means she knows how much money you spend on horse tack, even if your husband doesn’t!
Originally a city girl from Newport Beach, California, she moved to Bend, Oregon in 2006 and her first move was to get a horse. Soon after, she was introduced to cow sorting and has been hooked ever since. She’s also mom to 4 kiddos, two of which also share her love of horses, and her and her husband, Jeff, own a Tumalo Cider Company… the best craft cider in the Northwest!
AKA, “Big Jim”, comes from a construction background where he owned and operated
Jim is mostly self taught with a little help from some "Old Timers”. He has become one of the premier carvers in the industry today. Jim and the design team work closely with each other to create some of the amazing, leading edge designs and combinations that you see in our products. Jim is an amazing teacher himself, he spends a lot of his free time teaching the next generation his techniques that he has learned over the years.
When he’s not working in the HB shop, you can find him practicing his cast or out on his boat keeping the Central Oregon fishing population under control.
Ben comes from a back ground handcrafting high-end, custom windows and doors. This experience made him an instant asset to the HB production team, where he builds all of our strap goods as well as assembling our carved and buck stitched pieces. He’s the heavy lifter of the production team, and has an eye for detail that is evident in everything he makes. Not to mention a creative side that really comes to life during our annual Pumpkin Carving Contest!
Ben’s a proud father of three, and you can catch him at his son’s football games or the tennis court with wife Marcy when he’s not in the HB shop.
She’s our resident free spirit, with gypsy blood and a passion for the outdoors that only a native Northwest girl can have.
Originally from Nampa, ID, she’s lived throughout Oregon, and most recently spent 5 years in Maui exploring and honing her tandem surfing addiction, ultimately winning a competition for 8th in the World!
Cha Cha has a contagious, unforgettable laugh, a thirst for adventure, penchant for films and a sincerely kind hearted disposition that pairs nicely with her quirky sense of humor. She is an integral piece of the production team at HB, with an eye for detail honed from her past experience as a cannabis bud trimmer. She’s always up for a challenge and we are lucky to have her!
Rounding out the HB family is John. Born in the Bay Area and raised in our very own Sisters, OR! John spent some years as a teen in Orange County returning to Bend for high school where he met his sweetheart and future wife. Our resident funny man and music aficianado whose genuine sincerity, no doubt attributed to his six sisters and soon to be three daughters, plus the skills acquired as a woodworker and his years in automobile restoration, along with an apparent love for life and it's many challenges, shown in his day to day attitude have made him the perfect addition. When he is not executing his talents in the shop John may be spotted playing for the Rebels of Central Oregon Disc Golf or dominating the basketball court at Bend Athletic Club if he's not fine tuning his guitar technique that is. John's list of hobbies are vast, ranging from the mountain to the sea, anything with two wheels to raising his girls, family is important and we are fortunate to have him in ours.
